How Dinner Decided works

Dinner Decided is a random restaurant picker. Tell it where you are and what you're in the mood for, spin the dial, and it picks a restaurant near you. No more "I don't know, where do you want to go?"

Three steps to dinner

  1. Pick your spot. Dinner Decided starts near your city. Tap the locate button to use your exact location, or search for a city, neighborhood or ZIP code.
  2. Narrow it down. Choose how far you'll go (1 to 20 miles), cuisines, price and a minimum rating. Skip chains, or look for dine-in, takeout or delivery. Only places that are open now are included unless you turn that off.
  3. Spin. The dial lands on one restaurant, with its rating, price, hours and directions. Not feeling it? Spin again.

Still stuck before you even spin? Read how to decide where to eat when nobody can.

Questions

How does Dinner Decided choose a restaurant?

It searches Google Maps for restaurants near you that match your filters, then picks one at random. There are no sponsored or paid placements.

Is it free?

Yes. There's no account to create and no app to download. It works in any phone or computer browser.

Will it pick a restaurant that's closed?

Not by default. Open now is on when you arrive, so only places Google lists as open are on the dial. Places without hours on Google are left out too. Turn it off to plan ahead.

Can I spin from just my favorite restaurants?

Yes. Save at least two restaurants, then switch the dial from Nearby to Saved. Your saved places and recent spins stay on your device.

Can I keep a restaurant from coming up?

Tap Never show this place on its card. It stays off the dial until you unhide it from your saved lists.

Can I share a pick with friends?

Yes. The share button sends a link to that restaurant by text, email or social apps.

Does Dinner Decided store my location?

No. Your location is used to search for nearby restaurants and isn't stored. See the privacy policy for details.
